Indian Government Grants Extension for Mandatory Quality Certifications of Polyethylene Materials

Indian Government Grants Extension for Mandatory Quality Certifications of Polyethylene Materials

Policy April 1, 2023

The Indian government has granted an extension for mandatory quality certifications of Polyethylene Material used in Moulding and Extrusion processes, which includes EVA, HDPE, LDPE, and LLDPE. The Bureau of Indian Standards had previously mandated these certifications to ensure that materials meet the highest quality and safety standards. According to the official announcement, the new deadline for compliance has been moved to October 3, 2023, providing a welcome relief to manufacturers and suppliers who had been struggling to meet the earlier deadline due to logistical and operational issues. This extension is being viewed positively by manufacturers and importers of Polymer products, as it provides additional time to meet the BIS standards, ultimately improving the quality and safety of products made using Polyethylene Material and EVA. This move is also expected to strengthen India's position as a significant player in the global market. As per the latest notifications, polymer producers will now have extra time to secure BIS certification before the Orders come into force. Once these Orders come into effect, both domestic and foreign manufacturers of these products will only be permitted to sell or export in India with a valid BIS license in place.   PolyMart does not provide any assurances or guarantees regarding the reliability, accuracy, completeness, or quality of the information available on its website, app, or through any of its services.
