Polymer Market Weekly Update: Prices Show Mixed Trends

The polymer market witnessed significant fluctuations this week, with several key products showing downward momentum while others held steady or posted modest gains. PP Raffia prices dropped to ₹85.00/kg, reflecting a 1.16% weekly decline and a steep 9.57% quarterly fall. Compared to last year, prices are down 9.09%, nearing their yearly low. LLDPE closed at ₹86.50/kg, unchanged on the week but down 4.42% monthly and 8.47% quarterly. On a year-to-year basis, LLDPE remains weaker, down 2.26%, with a notable 10.82% decline from its annual high. HDPE BM remained stable at ₹87.00/kg, though it slipped 3.33% monthly and 3.87% quarterly. Yearly comparison shows a marginal 1.69% dip, despite holding 3.57% above its yearly low. LDPE offered some relief, settling at ₹109.00/kg. Although down slightly week-on-week, it has gained 3.81% year-on-year and remains 6.86% above its annual low, reflecting relative strength in demand. PVC, however, faced sharper pressure, closing at ₹67.50/kg, a 0.74% weekly decline and a sharp 8.16% monthly fall. Yearly data shows PVC still trading 5.47% above its low, but a steep 22.86% below its annual high, marking it as the weakest segment.Weekly Highlights RoDTEP Scheme Extended: The Indian government has extended the RoDTEP scheme by six months, now valid until March 31, 2026, ensuring continued fiscal support for exporters. Higher Allocation: Union Budget 2025-26 earmarked ₹18,232 crore for the scheme, up from ₹16,000 crore in FY25. Export Performance: Merchandise exports grew 2.5% in April–August FY26, with shipments to the US up 18% due to frontloading. Industry View: FIEO welcomed the extension, citing policy stability and support for export competitiveness. Polymer Price Cuts (Effective Oct 1, 2025): Major producers OPaL, HPL, and IOC reduced PP by ₹1,500/MT and PE by ₹1,000/MT, with price protection withdrawn. Reliance Offers Discounts: RIL introduced an Early Bird Discount of ₹2,500/MT on all PP and PE grades until Oct 18, 2025. Chiripal Industries: Increased PET polymer prices by ₹1,000/MT.
