UK Extends Tariffs on Indian PET Imports Until 2029 to Protect Domestic Producers

Polymer October 18, 2025

The UK Trade Remedies Authority (TRA) has extended countervailing duties on PET imports from India for another five years, until 2029. The review found that removing the duties could lead to the return of subsidised imports, threatening UK domestic producers. The duties will continue to range between 0% and 13.8%, depending on the exporter. PET (Polyethylene Terephthalate) is widely used in bottles, textiles, and packaging, making it vital for multiple industries. The TRA stated that the decision aims to protect UK manufacturers and ensure fair trade practices in the domestic market.Disclaimer: PolyMart does not offer guarantees regarding the accuracy, reliability, or completeness of the information provided on its platform.
