Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd. Chooses Univation’s UNIPOL™ PE Process for Major Expansion

Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd. (BPCL) has selected Univation Technologies' UNIPOL™ PE Process Technology for two new world-scale polyethylene (PE) production lines at BPCL's Bina Refinery in Madhya Pradesh, India. These lines are set to deliver a combined production capacity of 1,150,000 tons per annum, significantly boosting BPCL's PE output. The reactor lines are designed with full production back-fill capabilities, offering BPCL increased manufacturing flexibility and supply continuity. This setup enables the company to respond effectively to evolving market demands. The new lines will produce both high-density polyethylene (HDPE) and linear low-density polyethylene (LLDPE), catering to a broad spectrum of PE applications essential for the Indian market. BPCL will leverage Univation’s advanced HDPE platforms, including the PRODIGY™ Bimodal HDPE Technology and the ACCLAIM™ Unimodal HDPE Technology. These technologies will support the production of high-performance HDPE applications such as high-pressure PE100 and PE80 pipes, small part blow molding (SPBM), and large part blow molding (LPBM). Additionally, BPCL will utilize Univation's XCAT™ Metallocene Catalysts for producing specialty metallocene films, which are crucial for durable shipping packages, enhanced food preservation films, and sustainable agricultural applications.
