In the week ending 5th September 2025, global commodity markets witnessed sharp movements across crude oil, natural gas, and currency exchange rates. Crude oil prices closed at 65.50, marking a 3.85% weekly decline and a 3.16% monthly drop. The quarter remains marginally positive at +0.24%, but the yearly performance reflects a steep -9.89% fall. Prices stayed well above the yearly low of 58.95, recorded on 4th May 2025, but remain far below the yearly high of 82.03 seen on 15th January 2025. The Indian Rupee showed relative stability against the US Dollar, closing at 88.18. Weekly performance remained nearly flat (-0.01%), while monthly and quarterly losses stood at -0.40% and -2.74% respectively. On a yearly basis, the Rupee slipped -5.03%, with its highest level at 83.48 in September 2024 and weakest at 88.19 on 4th September 2025. Natural gas was the week’s standout performer, rising 1.67% to close at 3.04. Despite a quarterly slump of -16.94%, gas prices surged 35.11% YTD and remain 40.09% above last year’s levels.
