Polymer Market Weekly Update: Trends Across Major Grades
The polymer market on 28th September 2025 reflected a mixed performance across categories, with some short-term gains but broader pressure in quarterly and yearly trends. PP Raffia closed at ₹86.00/kg, up 0.58% weekly but lower by 2.82% monthly and 8.02% quarterly. Year-on-year, it remains down 7.53%, though prices are still above the yearly low of ₹85.50. LLDPE settled at ₹86.50/kg, slipping 1.14% weekly and 2.81% monthly. On a quarterly basis, it lost 7.49%, while YoY decline stood at 1.70%. The grade touched its yearly low at ₹86.50 recently. HDPE BM ended at ₹87.00/kg, down 0.57% weekly, 1.69% monthly, and 2.25% quarterly. Compared with last year, prices dipped 1.69%, though they are still 3.57% above the yearly low of ₹84.00. LDPE remained the bright spot, closing at ₹109.50/kg. It fell 0.45% weekly and 0.90% monthly, but YoY prices rose 7.35%, showing sustained demand. The grade has touched a high of ₹115.50 earlier this year. PVC stood flat at ₹68.00/kg, unchanged this week. However, it declined 7.48% monthly and 6.21% YoY, with prices far below the yearly high of ₹87.50.Weekly Highlights:Reliance Industries Ltd (RIL) has rolled over PET prices effective Sept 26, 2025, while withdrawing price protection, shifting toward market-linked pricing. The Shipping Corporation of India (SCI) signed an MoU with IOC, BPCL, and HPCL to jointly develop and operate oil tankers, strengthening energy security and reducing foreign freight reliance under the Atmanirbhar Bharat vision. Supreme Petrochem Ltd (SPL) announced a ₹1000/MT hike in both GPPS and HIPS grades effective Sept 27, 2025. In commodities, crude oil rose 5.17% weekly to 70.13, though still 1.35% lower YoY. The rupee weakened to 88.67, down 0.65% weekly and 6.06% YoY, reflecting persistent pressure.
