The global energy and currency markets witnessed notable movements this week, driven by shifts in demand, production trends, and investor sentiment. Crude Oil: Crude closed at 63.75, marking a 2.20% weekly rise. However, on a monthly basis, prices were nearly stable with a 0.36% gain. The quarterly trend shows a decline of 2.67%, while the yearly performance remains negative, down 11.57% compared to last year’s 72.09. The year’s low was recorded at 58.95 on 04 May 2025, while the high of 82.03 on 15 January 2025 remains far behind, indicating a 22.28% fall from that peak. Currency Market (USD-INR): The exchange rate closed at 89.94, slightly below last week’s 89.35, marking a 0.66% decline. Monthly and quarterly movements were also negative at 1.57% and 2.00%, respectively. On a yearly basis, the rate depreciated by 6.21% compared to 84.68 last year. The highest point of the year was 84.29 on 05 May 2025, while the lowest was 90.17 on 03 December 2025, showing marginal volatility of 0.26%. Natural Gas: Natural gas continued its strong upward momentum, closing at 5.28 with an 8.87% weekly surge. Monthly gains stood at 24.82%, while quarterly and yearly jumps were substantial at 73.68% and 71.99%, respectively. The year’s low of 2.75 on 24 August 2025 marks a 92% rise to current levels. Notably, gas touched a new yearly high of 5.28 on 05 December 2025.
