India’s Share in $1.3 Trillion Global Plastics Market Just $12.5 Billion
India’s plastics sector, despite its vast production base, holds only a $12.5 billion share in the $1.3 trillion global plastics market, according to the All India Plastics Manufacturers’ Association (AIPMA). At the Plastivision International Conference in Ahmedabad, experts noted that India’s share is less than 1%, reflecting significant untapped potential. AIPMA President Arvind Mehta said India could double or triple exports with stronger policy support, improved infrastructure, and global-standard practices. India has over 50,000 plastic manufacturing units, providing employment to 4.6 million people, making it a key contributor to the domestic economy. Industry leaders stressed the need to invest in innovation, recycling, and sustainability to enhance global competitiveness. Experts concluded that with the right reforms, India could expand exports and emerge as a stronger player in the global plastics industry.Disclaimer: PolyMart does not offer guarantees regarding the accuracy, reliability, or completeness of the information provided on its platform.
