Indian Polymer Market weekly update

Polymer September 2, 2025

The first week of September brought mixed momentum in the Indian polymer market, with PP Raffia and LDPE under pressure, while PVC staged a strong rebound. PP Raffia slipped further to ₹87.50/kg, down 1.13% weekly and a steep -7.89% year-on-year decline. The grade touched its yearly low at the same level, underlining persistent weakness amid sluggish demand and competitive imports. LLDPE prices held steady at ₹90.00/kg, showing no weekly change. However, it recorded a 4.26% monthly fall. On a yearly basis, LLDPE is still up 2.86%, supported by packaging sector resilience, though it lags behind February highs. HDPE BM eased by 1.12% weekly, closing at ₹88.50/kg. The grade remains 5.36% above its yearly low, but is still trading 4.84% below its peak. Intermittent demand from blow-molding applications has not been strong enough to lift prices. LDPE registered a moderate dip of 0.90%, closing at ₹109.50/kg. Despite the weekly decline, it remains one of the stronger performers with a 6.83% yearly gain, reflecting tight availability in film and lamination grades. In sharp contrast, PVC emerged as the star performer this week, climbing 2.74% weekly to ₹75.00/kg. With a robust 9.49% monthly and 17.19% yearly gain, PVC has bounced back strongly from its lows, though still remains 14.29% below its yearly high. Overall, September opened with mixed trends: polyolefins continued to face pressure from oversupply and cautious buying, while PVC gained momentum on improved demand and cost support.Disclaimer: PolyMart does not offer guarantees regarding the accuracy, reliability, or completeness of the information provided on its platform.
