Nayara Energy Set to Launch Polypropylene Production by First Half of 2024

Nayara Energy, an Indo-Russian crude oil refiner, is on track to commence commercial production at its Polypropylene plant in the Vadinar Refinery, Gujarat, during the first half of 2024. The company, known for its strategic Refinery complex, has invested in a phased approach to enter the petrochemical sector. Under Phase-1, Nayara is establishing a 450,000 tonnes per annum Polypropylene plant, featuring a Propylene Recovery Unit and upgrades to the existing Fluidized Catalytic Cracking Unit. A recent company statement confirmed the substantial progress made, with over 85 percent completion of the Phase-1 project. The propylene recovery unit, a critical component, has seen significant advancements. Nayara Energy's CEO, Alois Virag, highlighted the successful execution of the FCC revamps, marking a significant milestone in their petrochemical venture. The Polypropylene production is anticipated to mark the company's foray into this high-growth segment, aligning with its broader vision of establishing one of the largest integrated Petrochemical complexes in the country. Nayara Energy's Vadinar Refinery, operational since May 2008, stands as India's second-largest single-site refinery. The successful realization of Phase-1 sets the stage for Nayara's ambitious Phase II project, envisioning an integrated petrochemical complex.
