Rupee expected to depreciate, may breach 85-mark in 2023.
Date – 22/01/2023 The Indian Rupee is expected to experience depreciation on Thursday due to a significant increase in crude oil prices. The rise in oil prices was sparked by data demonstrating a larger than anticipated decrease in US crude reserves. Despite this, the weak value of the US Dollar and positive global market sentiments may mitigate the sharp decline in the Indian Rupee. Additionally, the minutes from the Reserve Bank of India's monetary policy meeting indicated that the governor, Shaktikanta Das, believes that rate hikes should continue in India. According to ICICIdirect, the US Dollar to Indian Rupee exchange rate (December) is holding strong support near 82.60. As long as this level is sustained, the Indian Rupee may experience a slight decrease to 83.00. In the previous session, the Indian Rupee fell by 10 paise to settle at 82.80 (provisional) against the US Dollar as a significant sell-off in domestic equities and declining global market sentiment negatively impacted investor confidence. The Indian Rupee is predicted to experience depreciation in the near future and may potentially breach the 85-mark in 2023. The US Dollar to Indian Rupee exchange rate is projected to trade within this range.
